Florence Nightingale has been iconic figure in Britain since the 1850’s. These Royal Mail postage stamps were produced in 1970 to celebrate 150 years since her birth.
The image shows Nightingale caring for soldiers during the Crimean War. Whilst her work at Scutari Hospital was only a short part of her life, it has remained her most vivid popular image.
