Florence the Woman

St Margaret’s Church, East Wellow, Hampshire

Display No. 95

St Margaret’s Church, located in the Hampshire village of East Wellow, is the site of the Nightingale family memorial and Florence’s final resting place. Florence’s inscription is simply engraved with only her initials, birth and death dates.

This unusual and very understated memorial reflected her wishes and is in keeping with her lifelong aversion to fame.
