Suggest the 200th Exhibit Our objects, people and places were suggested by partners from the nursing, scientific and heritage sectors as well as members of the public, our staff and volunteers. We would however like you to nominate a 200th element. Please complete the simple form to tell us what aspect of Nightingale’s achievements or legacy you would like to share. 2020 marks the bicentenary of Florence Nightingale’s birth with celebrations taking place across the globe. Our Museum is proud to be at the centre of these celebrations. Nightingale is respected worldwide for her pioneering role in developing the nursing profession, her statistical work, and her evidence-based approach to healthcare. In honour of her bicentenary the World Health Organisation have named 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. In our special exhibition, you will find out about objects, people and places which tell interesting stories about Florence’s life and legacy. You’ll discover artefacts from her life, people she both inspired and challenged, and places she helped to shape. There's many more insights too! Please click on the different sections of her famous coxcomb diagram to explore various aspects of her life and legacy. We hope you enjoy exploring! 200 Exhibits on show at the 2020 Exhibition

An update from the Chair of the Trustees & Museum Director: Nightingale’s bicentenary and our bid to Save the Museum On behalf of the team at the Florence Nightingale Museum we would like to thank every individual and organisation who joined us in celebrating Nightingale’s bicentenary and International Nurses Day on 12 May 2020. The pandemic and its effects frustratingly required so many cancellations and changes to plans, but from your messages and photographs we are aware of so much positive activity, and we are truly honoured to have played our part in helping co-ordinate and promote so many events around the globe. We hope that you enjoyed our hastily arranged projection onto Westminster, a late addition to our programme and a direct response to social distancing measures and the need for a high profile celebration of both Nightingale and our current nurses and carers. It was a fantastic honour to be given permission to lead this initiative and we thank the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament, the team at Guy’s &St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity and everyone else who supported us in delivering this unique project. Our pride in the nursing profession and those who care and indeed all that has been achieved in these most challenging of times could not have been made more clear. Whilst some events have inevitably been cancelled, we are also aware that a number of activities have been postponed to a later date, so do let us know if this is the case and we will do our best to support and promote these via our website events calendar and social media. We are aware that so much hard work and investment had already been made that many of you will be keen to continue when it is safe and practical to do so. We are certainly hoping that the Nightingale Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show will now take place in 2021 and are looking forward to confirmation of this. The museum is also still planning for our commemorative evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday 27 October 2020, and our participation in the Lord Mayor of London’s Show on Saturday 14 November 2020, recognising that these will most likely be effected by some social distancing measures. Where possible, we do hope you will be able to join us at these events, even if your participation is virtual rather than in person. Whilst the museum is sadly closed, we are continuing to offer online engagement, notably through our online bicentenary exhibition, “Nightingale in 200 Objects, People and Places”, the development of which has proved to be a massive asset during lockdown and of great assistance to families who have needed home learning resources. The museum management team are also considering plans for how and when we will re-open, although like so many small charities this will be an immense challenge as our income sources have been
