The Soyer stove in the Museums’s collection tells the story of Alexis Soyer. Like Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, saved lives behind the lines during the Crimean War.

Hairwork refers to jewellery or artwork made from human hair, a craft most commonly associated with the Victorian era, during which it became a prominent element of the period’s flourishing mourning culture, popularised by Queen Victoria.

I'm Hannah, the curator here at FNM, it is my wonderful job to look after the collection and all of its associated information. Having been at the museum for seven years now, I have previously worked for the National Trust and have a master's degree in Heritage and Interpretation. While I did not start out at FNM as the curator, I have worked in various roles across the organisation and have been working with our collection since 2021.
