Meet the Curator

Hannah Amos, 11th February 2026

I'm Hannah, the curator here at FNM, it is my wonderful job to look after the collection and all of its associated information.

Having been at the museum for seven years now, I have previously worked for the National Trust and have a master's degree in Heritage and Interpretation. While I did not start out at FNM as the curator, I have worked in various roles across the organisation and have been working with our collection since 2021.

When I started at FNM, I knew a little about Nightingale but I have grown to love all things Nightingale and continue to learn new things about her all the time. I can now talk anyone's ear off about her and it seems that everywhere I go on holiday I can find some connection to Nightingale! I couldn't resist on a recent holiday to Rome, informing my husband all about Nightingale's visit to Rome in the 1840s with the Bracebridges (this is also where she met the Herberts!). Sometimes I feel that she has become my whole life, but I have become so passionate about her life, her work and the legacy she has left us – not just in nursing but in many other areas too.

My job can be very varied: I look after the collection, ensuring that all the paperwork on each object is up to date, undertake research into the collection and connecting stories, create exhibitions, respond to research or donation enquiries and manage our loans programme.

Everyday is different here at the museum and I get to meet so many wonderful people, who are all equally as passionate about Nightingale as I am.

Please keep an eye out on our new blog for more posts from me about all things Nightingale and a behind the scenes look at the collections and exhibtions work that we do here at the museum!
