Toni Hackney

MSHI, RN

In honour of her retirement from the Last Frontier May 2025

To honour 32 years of service in the Great State of Alaska, we are dedicating this entry during Nurses week in the Book of Honour at the Florence Nightingale Museum in London to celebrate the momentous occasion of your retirement.

A Nursing career worthy of a book, in one of the most challenging places in the world. From a Public Health Nurse practicing in some of the most remote places in North America to a Director of Nursing for the Department of Corrections, just in time to lead a staff of Nurses from around the State through a global public health emergency during the pandemic, your career has clearly been an adventure.

Compassion, integrity and striving for excellence, always with a smile and no shortage of wit, you have been an inspiration and a valued peer to a great many, and you deserve a well-earned retirement where you will no longer need a coat!
All the best wishes from your friends and peers at the State of Alaska.
