Special Topics Talk: Catherine Pine – Through the Lens of the Archives

Make the most of your visit to our museum by learning about the histories and stories behind the collection!
Today’s Special Topics Talk will connect to our brand-new temporary exhibition, In Focus: Nurse Catherine Pine. Catherine Pine was the private nurse to Emmeline Pankhurst, her family, and the suffragettes. Her hard work and dedication resulted in her being awarded a suffragette medal which was lost for many years. This medal is now on display within the space.
This talk will be delivered by Hedvig, a placement student from The University of Westminster. She was pivotal in the research and creation of this new exhibition. Visitors will learn about the research process and discuss how small archival pieces can be so important! It will explore how to read resources from both online and in-person archives.
Some of the archives we used during our research were the British Journal of Nursing, Women’s Library LSE, and National Archives.
This talk is included in all general admission tickets.
When: Thursday 12th March @ 2:00pm
If you can’t make it today, that’s ok! This talk will be also be taking place at our monthly museum on Thursday 30th April!
