Free Learning Resources

We know that home-based learning and teacher support is both popular and needed so we’ve devised some Key Stage 1 & 2 resources to help support learning outside the classroom.

We hope you enjoy our free digital learning offer. If you want to help support the museum so we can continue to develop our learning resources please visit the museum or considering buying from our online shop. All ticket and shop sales support our work at the museum.

Activities

Family & School Pack

This Learning Pack was made in collaboration with Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust and was supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.  It includes worksheets and activities about the important work of nurses & midwives and Nightingale herself.

Make a hair bracelet

In Victorian times it was common to give family jewellery made from the hair of relatives and loved ones. Florence had a bracelet which she took with her to the Crimean War, made with hair from her parents and sister.

Now you can make your own hair bracelet – but it’s pretty fiddly making it with real hair (and it would take an age to grow and collect!) – so you can make yours from thread. Watch our video to find out how.

Mental Health

Florence knew that feeling well in the mind was as important as feeling well in the body.

Animal therapy

Florence loved animals and as a girl pretended her pets were her patients. As a nurse she understood how animals could help patients recover.

Hygiene and handwashing

Florence realised that hygiene and sanitation could help save lives.

Food and Florence

In February half term 2021 we teamed up with Kids Cookery School to explore food and healthy eating. Here are some recipes that you could make at home!
