Volunteer With Us
Our volunteers are incredibly valuable in bringing the museum’s collections to life, enhancing the visitor experience and contributing to the smooth running of the museum’s operations.
Volunteers are primarily gallery based and roles include:
- Assisting with KS1 school groups (Term time weekdays only)
- Leading object handling sessions
- Leading tours and talks
- Answering visitors questions
- Assisting with events and performances
- Assisting with family and holiday activities
- Ensuring a tidy welcoming space
As a small museum, no two volunteering shifts are the same and the museum is very grateful for the support and hard work of its wonderful team of volunteers, always happy to get stuck in!
We value the time and skills of our volunteers and strive to provide a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. Our roles are intended to inspire and benefit the volunteer as much as they support the museum.
We will provide full training appropriate to the volunteer role. We encourage volunteers to learn and develop new skills and will provide them with the opportunity to do so. Many volunteers describe how their confidence increased as a result of their volunteering, especially through interacting and engaging with the public.
