Welcome to the Florence Nightingale Museum blog!
Melissa Wert, 2nd February 2026
We are so excited to share some incredible stories relating to a multitude of topics. Whether you are interested in history, nursing, the day to day of museums, or interesting events – this blog will have something for you to enjoy!
Before you dive in, here is a little bit of information about who we are and how this all started. The Florence Nightingale Museum is a small, independent charity located on the campus of St. Thomas Hospital in London. We are dedicated to telling the story of the ever popular ‘Lady with the Lamp’ and care for one of the largest collections of artifacts relating to Nightingale. Above our museum is Gassiot House, which was home to the Nightingale Nurses during their training and just across the river is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
The museum’s permanent exhibition follows the life of Nightingale from her early life, to her time during the Crimean War, through to her reform work and contributions after she returned to England. We also have two temporary exhibition spaces – one which rotates yearly and one which rotates every 6 months.
Over the years, our team has realized that we have so many interesting and unique stories to tell – and that is what we are aiming to do in the blog! The posts will be made by members of our team about the things that we think you would like to learn more about. The blog does not have scheduled release dates but we intend on posting frequently, so be sure to keep checking back for new bits.
If there is a subject, object, or topic you would like us to cover in our blog or if you have any questions on the pieces published, please send us an email at info@florence-nightingale.co.uk
Enjoy!
