International Women’s Day

Object Handling

Celebrate International Women’s Day at the Florence Nightingale Museum and learn about the lives and contributions of important women throughout history!

In addition to the story of Florence Nightingale, held within our main exhibition space, you will also be able to hear the story of Catherine Pine. Pine was the nurse of Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragettes. She is at the center of our newest In Focus temporary exhibition.

On display within this exhibition is Nurse Pine’s medal that was awarded to her for her work. Having gone missing in the 1950s, the medal was rediscovered in 2023 by Dr Hope Elizabeth May.

Get a chance to see this rare medal and actually hold a reproduction of it. This object handling session will be on throughout both days and is led by one of our very knowledgeable museum team.

This special object handling session is included in all general admission tickets and will take place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March.
