Lance Corporal Manpreet Maycock
Born and raised in Delhi, India, Manpreet never expected to join the British Army and didn’t know that women even could join. However, following personal struggles in an arranged marriage and moving to the UK, she found herself at a crossroads. On joining, the support of the Army nurses taught her the true meaning of seva (the concept of selfless service in Sikhism), through a journey of physical and mental recovery that gave Manpreet her strength, courage and dignity back.
She continues to work in both the Army and the NHS, as a reservist and a general manager respectively.
