Florence Nightingale’s 200th anniversary
Florence Nightingale was born in 1820 and to celebrate her bicentenary year in 2020, the World Health Organisation declared 2020 to be the “Year of the Nurse and Midwife”
Florence Nightingale and her legacy have never been more relevant amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Her key nursing values – which focused on maintaining good hygiene, regularly washing hands and carrying out evidence-based practices – have been widely echoed during the COVID 19 pandemic. Frontline workers around the world have made incredible contributions in the fight against the virus.
To honour those who followed in Nightingale’s footsteps, Wake Up Lighting in partnership with the Florence Nightingale Museum in London released this exclusive “Florence Nightingale Statue” to celebrate Nightingale’s 200th anniversary and the “International Year of the Nurse and Midwife” in 2020.
