Statistics & Evidence Based Healthcare

“Little as we know about the way in which we are affected by form, by colour, and light, we do know this, that they have an actual physical effect. Variety of form and brilliancy of colour are actual means of recovery”

Florence in her own words: Colour Therapy

Display No. 181

Florence Nightingale was ahead of her time when it came to patient wellbeing including her recognition that the visual environment plays a key role in recovery. In ‘Notes on Nursing’ she states: “Little as we know about the way in which we are affected by form, by colour, and light, we do know this, that they have an actual physical effect. Variety of form and brilliancy of colour are actual means of recovery”. We still see this concept today in psychological and therapeutic techniques as well as interior design practice.
