John Wakefield an amateur radio enthusiast has been granted a licence to operate a station to commemorate Nightingale’s bicentenary. John lives in the Hampshire village of Wellow, including Embley where Nightingale lived. He’ll be making contacts worldwide throughout the year, spreading the word about Florence Nightingale and encouraging people to join in the celebrations.

If you are a Radio Amateur John will be transmitting on the 20 metre and 40 metre frequencies (14Mhz and 7Mhz).
