Those magnificent huts
October 2005 - December 2006

A small display marking the anniversary of the opening of Brunel’s prefabricated hospital at Renkioi in October 1855. The exhibition ran from october 2005 until December 2006.

Renkioi was a 1000 bed, prefabricated hospital, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The hospital was transported by five ships to the Crimea and completed in ten months. The display reproduced original plans of the hospital, contemporary photographs of the site and some of Brunel’s original sketches for sanitary equipment.
