Become a volunteer

Become a Volunteer

The Florence Nightingale Museum is a small friendly museum with a great team of volunteers. The Museum attracts local, national and international visitors and has a vibrant schools programme.

We welcome volunteers who will bring the museum displays to life and engage our visitors with simple interactives.


We are looking for people who:

  • Who have an interest in history and Florence Nightingale
  • An ability to deal with all kinds of people, of all ages, individually or in groups
  • Are friendly and interested in our visitors
  • Have good levels of spoken English
  • Are available, dependable, flexible and reliable
  • Can commit to at least two days per month

We can offer you:

  • Opportunity to be involved with a dynamic, new look museum and to help bring Florence Nightingale’s story to life
  • Make new friends and develop new skills
  • Individual membership of the museum after 6 months service
  • Invitations to volunteer only trips and to museum events
    You will receive comprehensive training on the museum displays and interactive and be provided with a volunteer handbook.
